This is some of the source inspiration I found for a project based on creating something from materials that would either be discarded or that could be found around the house.
I made a series of sketches of my ideas for a corset that I wanted to construct, and how the complete outfit would look. I enjoyed thinking about the accessories that would compliment the design.
Here is the final corset I made, constructing it on a mannequin form. I used a number of bin bags and some haberdashery I had been gifted by a neighbour. I was intending to add some pewter jewellery I had made in a jewellery workshop but it was too heavy. So instead I used some crosses I had from some second-hand jewellery. I loved the use of braiding to add a 3 dimensional quality to the design. It looked very wearable and much more expensive than the mateirals used to create it.
I enjoy customising clothing and filmed the process of painting on these jeans. TikTok is great for expressing creativity and for inspiration.
This is a style moodboard for a layered office look. I enjoy playing with layers and creating outfits that are gender neutral or challenge gender stereotypes. I used myself and a couple of friends to recreate the looks and show how I would style them.
Here are a couple of other moodboard examples on different themes. I love using Pinterest to gather reference inspiration. The left image shows the current trend for pops of colour in clothing and makeup. the right hand image is Sporty Chic - high end sports looks combined with workwear. I love monochrome colourways with a pop of red.
I loved researching Alexander Calder and manipulating wire to make jewellery. I really enjoy creating accessories as well as garments and enjoy using the structural elements of different materials.
As a development of my jewellery making I actually managed to cast some pewter which was amazing. I created the initial sketches, made a lino cut and then made the mould from clay. The final Pewter Piece was so exciting but I hadn't anticipated how heavy it would be and so couldn't incorporate it into the corset I was making, but it was a great object and I got a lot out of the process of making it.
One of the first projects I worked on on my Foundation Course at WMC was this collaborative circus hat project. As I love construction I was instrumental in the research of the project and the construction of the final headpiece that included themes of hoops of fire, circus rings and feathers. I actually loved the minimal aesthetic of just using white paper.
This was another moodboard and styling session, on the left: combining the double denim trend with tartan kilts. I think this is a very wearable look that would work across gender boundaries. On the right: the current and recurring leopard trend.
As well as accessories I enjoy creating different hair and makeup looks. I experiment with my own hair, styling my natural curly hair or wearing wigs. This makeup look was inspired by a project on landscapes and is very feminine.
I enjoy creating TikTok's of my styling, modelling and clothing. I have recently been invited to collaborate with Motel Rocks. I made this quick TikTok whilst getting ready for a shoot for Adidas.
